I went to the web today to see what’s happening on this full-of-joke-and-trick day. Well, some people gave presents & gifts on april fools day. I found a few gifts websites that have great gift ideas for April Fool: Gifts.com, HelpMeFindAGift.net, FindGift.com. Maybe I could start looking around earlier next year for April Fools gifts.

I was introduced to peterpan by a couple of colleagues back in 2004. It was their second album Bintang di Surga that had me fell head over heals. Mungkin Nanti was the first song that I heard and instantly I fall in love with peterpan (and not to mention Ariel, the lead vocalist who is blessed with manly emotional voice and a handsome face).
Listening to their song, you will first love the catchy melody. Then if you venture on a second listening, you will notice that the lyrics are simple but poetic. Combine that with Ariel’s moody expression and you have a winning album. Their a bit Brit-pop, in my opinin, and that’s why I love them.
Their latest album, Hari Yang Cerah, was released in the middle of 2007 but I only got the chance to hear the whole album until recently. My guy, who was not into Indonesian band once upon a time, had bought the album. I did promise him to buy the album when I went to a family trip in Bandung three weeks ago, but I didn’t keep my words, due to a certain reason and it’s another story for another time. My guy said he really likes this one. I was a bit surprised actually. He did sneer at me when I first mentioned peterpan a few years ago to him. And now, look who’s buying their latest album. Haha.. Anyway, maybe it’s because of the bintang di surga that helped peterpan gain a fan in my guy.
Among the 10 songs featured in their latest album, I really like songs number 1, 2 and 3 (Menghapus Jejak, Hari Yang Cerah and Di Balik Awan respectively). I have been listening to these three songs back to back today. 😉 Menghapus Jejak has a very cheerful opening, though the song is about a broken relationship. Hari Yang Cerah reminds me of a Coldplay song. And Di Balik Awan, I enjoy it simply because it reminds me of my guy who sang this song to me on our way to The Curve. 😉 But really, I like the song mainly because of how Ariel convey the message of the lyrics with his voice. There’s something about Ariel voice that I can’t quite put it in words.
Dragged my guy for a quick bruch there yesterday. He ordered rojak and soya cincau (soy milk with grass jelly) while I ordered bubur pulut hitam (black glutinous rice porridge) and local Penang coffee. When the rojak arrived, I was surprised that it was fruit rojak as I had imagined a mamak rojak – fried dough fritters, bean curds, boiled potatoes, prawn fritters, hard boiled eggs, bean sprouts and cucumber mixed with a thick, spicy peanut sauce. Hehe..hellooo..this is Little Penang Kafe, not Restoran Ali Maju. 😀
The bubur pulut hitam was nice, but not to my liking. It was a bit bland, not sweet enough to my taste. Hailed from the East Coast, I have sweet tooth and like my bubur sweet. More so, I noticed that they didn’t cook the coconut with the black glutinous rice; they just add it before serving. I remember my mom cook the bubur a bit differently; she adds the santan as soon as the the black glutinous rice is cooked. And she puts sugar, a lot of it. After all, mom is a Kelantanese. 😉
While sampling the bubur, it got me thinking: where did bubur pulut hitam originate from?
I had intended to write about my first visit to Marche at The Curve on 1st September 2007 the minute I reached home from there. But I don’t know what’s stopping me and I have no excuse to give. So here goes.
My other half had been raving about the food at Marche many times that I was tempted to try it for myself. So when the long-awaited bonus came, I dragged him to have lunch there.
The thing about Marche is, it is a buffet heaven. You have a wide selection of food to choose from. Steak, pizza, spagetti, desserts just to name a few. You name it. I really love their cream caramel. Yum yum!
Ok, one thing unique about Marche is first the maitre d’ will give you a card and you need to hand the card to the person manning the buffet station so that he can stamp it. At the end of the meal, you show the card to the cashier and wallah! Your bill could end up as some thing like below:
I found that, since starting this blog not more that six months ago, I have changed the outlook maybe 3 times. Well, with a lot of themes to choose from, I’m tempted to try each of it. So this time I’m using Pressrow. See how long can I use this one. 😉
